Jobs Council to Obama: You’re Fired!

The Jobs Council assembled at the Obama White House before issuing their third report on “actionable” measures the administration must take to increase American Jobs. “This has not been a show council,” insisted President Obama, “This has been a work council.”

And in some ways they certainly are. According to the report, of the more than 60 Council recommendations sent to their hard working boss, Obama gets credit for taking 14“actions” on a whopping 4 proposals.

Worse yet, at the very time the president is gearing up his re-election campaign, a central theme of which will be “income inequality,” the Council recommends lowering the corporate tax rate to spur private-sector expansion and therefore … jobs. And, horror of horrors, they also advised the federal government opening public lands to oil exploration and coal mining.

Do you remember all that “infrastructure investment” Obama assured us was “shovel ready”? The Jobs Council says the effort could get a real shot in the arm if the EPA would simply “reduce the cost and improve the speed of environmental permitting.”

Then the Council struck at the heart of Obama’s most cherished accomplishment – Obamacare. Under the president’s health care abomination, medical device companies will bear a heavy tax burden. “The Council has worked closely with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on ways to improve the medical device approval process,” says the report, “The FDA is currently engaged in a major initiative to streamline and improve the approval process …”

It’s worth noting that the council is composed of both business executives and labor leaders. Their report does not come right out and say it, but sitting right between the lines is a very uncomfortable fact for our Community Organizer-in-Chief: burdensome government taxation and regulation not only gets in the way of America’s job-creating private sector … it gets in the way of government as well.

The report acknowledges that “the economic threats we face are real” but reassures us “there’s no question we will surmount them – so long as we think differently, and act differently, together.”

And with that, the Jobs Council gave Obama’s 2012 Republican challenger a shovel-ready campaign slogan.
