Ohillery Obama is not Through Apologizing

By Mr. Curmudgeon

While we were distracted by President Obama’s domestic transformative changes for America, a little known international project was underway in the nation. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sent functionaries around the country to compile information for a report meeting the guidelines of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process of the United Nations Human Rights Commission.

According to the State Department report, “This document gives a partial snapshot of the current human rights situation in the United States, including some of the areas where problems persist in our society.”

This, of course, begs the question: who were the UPR consultants that met with Hillary’s State Department minions? Here’s a partial list:

* Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, host organization…the ACLU
* National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty, Urban Justice Center
* American Indian Law Center, Navajo Nation
* NAACP
* American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee
* Housing Action Illinois, John Marshal Law School
* Human Rights Watch
* Open Society Institute

In other words, the US is being accused of human rights abuses by every domestic crackpot organization demanding more redistribution of your income or a kinder, gentler approach in dealing with international Islamic jihad. And that’s not all.

According to the State Department report, “A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined.”

And so, the Obama administration has presented a report, the first the US has ever submitted to the UN’s Human Rights Commission, admitting to an international human rights violation – the State of Arizona’s attempt to secure its southern border with Mexico.

And who sits on the United Nations Human Rights Commission? Cuba, Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Pakistan, Angola and China are but a few. And Obama hopes they are gracious enough to accept his apology on our behalf and his promise to force all fifty US states to live up to the high expectations of Cuba and other UN dictatorial member states.

Now that Obama has recognized the UN as the guarantor of human rights, something no past US president was ever so deranged to do, what will happen should “We the People” violate Cuba or China’s interpretation of human rights?

There are always sanctions and embargos – even military action in extreme cases.

When I was a kid, there was a local restaurant whose owner placed a large billboard facing a busy boulevard. The sign read “Get the US out of the UN.”

When will Republicans get it through their thick skulls that another winning plank for their party is our nation’s withdrawal from the world body?

The left will accuse the GOP of turning the US into a rogue state. The opposite is true. America would assert its independence for a second time in world history by refusing to be subject to an organization comprised of corrupt and evil rogue states.

I have always believed that there is only one act for which the US owes the world a sincere apology – the establishment of the United Nations.

But that’s one apology Obama will never make.

churchill Political Correctness: Least of Human Qualities

By Mr. Curmudgeon

Those familiar with history may have thought the Frankish warrior and king, Charles (The Hammer) Martel, saved Christendom and Western Civilization from the invading Muslim hoards at the battle of Tours in AD 732. For centuries, Martel’s victory served as a source of pride considered worthy of passing along to children. That may change. Muslim sensibilities are priority number one in today’s dying Europe.

According to the London Daily Mail, “Schools [in England] are dropping the Holocaust from history lessons to avoid offending Muslim pupils, a Government backed study has revealed. It found some teachers are reluctant to cover the atrocity for fear of upsetting students whose belief include Holocaust denial.”

That being the case, how long before the anti-Semitic “Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” which claims Jews use the blood of children during the Passover Feast, is a required part of school curriculum for Great Britain’s children? After all, the poisonous slander is pervasive throughout the Islamic world – the focus of documentaries and multi-part television programs.

The government report went on to say that some schools avoid teaching the Crusades because “the topic would have challenged what was taught in some local mosques.”

England, which for a time stood alone against Hitler, cowers in the face of Islamic denials of reality to appease 6th Century totalitarian throwbacks.

The great Winston Churchill once said, “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” In today’s Britain, a dangerous cowardice masquerades as cultural sensitivity.

Churchill also said, “Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities… because it is the quality which guarantees all others.”

And the greatest quality of courage is survival.

pelos Will You Please Stop Being Disagreeable

By Mr. Curmudgeon

“There is no question that there’s a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of the controversy surrounding the Ground Zero mosque. She then added ominously, “I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded.” Interesting that Madam Speaker isn’t all that interested in who is behind the funding of the mosque at Ground Zero.

Forget for the moment the issue of a triumphal 13-story Islamic monument built to shadow over Ground Zero, the Democratic majority is concerned with all the opposition to their rule in our democratic republic. Leaders such as Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro don’t have such concerns, making all their community organizing simpler and more streamlined.

The debate over the mosque is not a question of totalitarian Islamic ideology at odds with a pluralistic and free society. Its merely “a zoning issue in New York City.” And isn’t that a matter best left to an unelected zoning commission? Nancy didn’t like being confronted by questions concerning zoning. It’s beneath her.

Democrats have had to deal with a lot of uncomfortable questions: at health care town hall meetings and at anti-ObamaCare rallies outside the Capitol Building. Average Americans can’t possibly be that jealous of their liberties, can they? There must be some evil agency working against our betters. Hillary Clinton once called them the “vast right-wing conspiracy.” And every counter revolution has a leader and financiers, don’t they?

The millions of Americans turning out for Tea Party rallies across the country, says Nancy, are nothing but Astroturf – paid agitators like ACORN activists. When reporters ask Nancy uncomfortable questions concerning her Constitutional authority to micromanage our lives, she asks back, “Are you kidding, are you kidding?”

Nancy doesn’t know anybody in San Francisco who disagrees with her.

Opposition to Democratic rule must be the work of racists, right-wing domestic terrorists or wild-eyed crazies, right? And Nancy must save sane San Franciscans, er, Americans from the millions of mentally challenged opponents of America’s transformation into a bankrupt Castroite paradise.

groundZero Osama Envy

By Mr. Curmudgeon

At Friday’s White House gala commemorating the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, President Obama said, “Ramadan is a celebration of a faith known for great diversity and racial equality. And here in the United States, Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been part of America and that American Muslims have made extraordinary contributions to our country.” The president then weighed in on the latest intended contribution to our country by Islam. “Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. That includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in lower Manhattan…” The president may not be a fan of property rights, but assured Muslims he’ll make an exception at Ground Zero.

Saturday, the president further clarified his statement, “I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making a decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right that people have that dates back to our founding.” Interesting how a president whose totalitarian health care plan shows contempt for the Constitution’s limits on government power, uses it for convenient cover to support a monument to mass murder.

At the same time, Obama can’t bring himself to comment on the disgusting in-your-face statement the Ground Zero mosque shouts to America and the Islamic world. If Obama can’t apologize on our behalf, he has nothing to say.

And the president’s support for a gloating monument to shadow over 3,000 American innocent dead is not due to any pro-Muslim feeling on his part. He merely admires the ability of Islam’s religious totalitarian ideology to community organize on a global scale.

In other words, Obama suffers from Osama envy.

iranNut Irans Ahmadinejad Dodges Firecracker

By Mr. Curmudgeon

It wasn’t quite “The Day of the Jackal,” but it appears someone tried to off Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The dear leader, however, escaped unharmed. This must have come as a great relief to President Obama, still hoping against hope that some day he’ll meet face-to-face with Iran’s strongman without preconditions and in a spirit of mutual respect.

Iran’s government, fearful spontaneous street celebrations would erupt throughout the country, issued a quick press release denying any attempt was made on their leaders life. Instead, the government claims the noise that sent Ahmadinejad’s security team checking their leader for exit wounds, was just the popping of a firecracker.

The government statement claims the “firecracker” was set off by a “young man who wanted to express his enthusiasm.” Then, oddly, it goes on to say smoke spread over the area of the president’s motorcade and that several people were arrested.

Either someone tried to kill Ahmadinejad or Iran has the Islamic world’s strictest anti-fireworks laws.

According to the Los Angeles Times, “The president’s popularity has been strained by high unemployment” and “a bad economy.”

Gee, which president are they talking about?

bloom Mayor Bloomberg’s Cowardice

By Mr. Curmudgeon

In defending the proposed 15-story Cordoba House Islamic center, the afternoon shadow of which will point approvingly toward al-Qaed’s handiwork at Ground Zero, go-along-to-get-along Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg said, “To cave to popular sentiment would be to hand a victory to the terrorists — and we should not stand for that.” In the infected minds of the politically correct, blaming the victim is priority number one. And in this case, Bloomberg blamed all 3,000 of them.

Allowing an Islamic structure to tower over Ground Zero in celebration of an intolerant totalitarian faith that views the mass slaughter of defiant non-believers as a fast track to paradise is not, as Bloomberg and others would have us believe, an act of tolerance. It is an Islamic act. For the word Islam, translated from the Arabic, means “submission.”

Building triumphal monuments to conquest is nothing new. Any sightseer to Rome can visit the triumphal arch of Titus, commemorating the capture of Jerusalem in AD 70 and the ransacking of the Jewish Temple’s sacred articles by Rome’s victorious legions.

And it is no accident that New York’s proposed Islamic center should bear the name Cordoba. The Islamic conquest of the Iberian Peninsula saw the rapid building of mosques throughout vanquished Christian Spain. Construction of the great Cordoba mosque began in earnest in AD 784 on the site of Saint Vincent’s church. It was meant to serve as a symbol of conquest and power. The mosque was reconverted into a Catholic church when King Ferdinand III of Castile seized Cordoba in 1236.

However, not everyone is happy about that. According to Turkey’s World Bulletin, last April, “Spanish guards, employed by the Roman Catholic bishop, harshly reacted to Muslims, who wanted to pray at the world-famous Cordoba mosque.” The story says police were summoned to break up an unruly crowd of 100 Muslims insisting the Catholic venue double as a mosque. “The building is very big and the main cathedral occupies only a part of it,” said Mansur Escudero, a Muslim convert and member of a group calling itself Junta Islamica. “They publicize the building as a mosque,” he complained, “because that brings in tourists, but they do not allow the Muslims who pay money to go inside to pray.” In other words, Muslims would like their triumphal monument back. Luckily for Cordoba’s Catholics, Bishop Demetrio Fernández isn’t submissive, er, tolerant.

The contrast between Bishop Fernández and Mayor Bloomberg is worth noting. It marks the difference between a man who believes in something and one who believes in nothing. Bloomberg’s bottomless pit of cowardice has a nice sounding name that excuses inaction in the face of unspeakable evil…tolerance.

The heroic burden of Bishop Fernández, on the other hand, is building a church to stand as a moral force against which “the gates of hell shall not prevail.”

That moral imperative compelled King Ferdinand to push the Muslim invader from Cordoba to begin a golden age that would lead to Columbus’ discovery of America.

Michael Bloomberg, on the other hand, takes the sniveling coward’s way out and welcomes the invader with open arms.

nam Obama Gets the Bush Treatment

By Mr. Curmudgeon

With President Obama’s timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan as likely to succeed as his timetable for closing Gitmo, the left is pulling out all the stops and giving the community organizer a little taste of George W. Bush’s medicine. Someone leaked six-years worth of classified military documents to that disseminator of America’s top secrets — the New York Times.

This put White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs in the uncomfortable position of having to sound like Dick Cheney. “We are in this region of the world because of what happened on 9/11,” Gibbs reminded a forgetful White House press corps. “Ensuring that there is not a safe haven in Afghanistan by which attacks against this country and countries around the world can be planned. That’s why we’re there, and that’s why we’re going to continue to make progress on this relationship.”

The documents were released through Wikileaks, a Website that dubs itself “a multi-jurisdictional public service designed to protect whistleblowers, journalists and activists who have sensitive materials to communicate to the public.” Its founder, Julian Assange, told Germany’s Der Spiegel, “I enjoy crushing bastards.”

The administration states that there is no there there; that the information says what most have known for a while – that US military policy has been a little short in the war-making department. The documents also verify that the intelligence service of our fine ally Pakistan is aiding the Taliban. This, of course, should not surprise us since Pakistan was one of only three countries to recognize the Taliban and supply the scruffy misfits with arms.

The most striking revelation in the documents is how America’s Vietnamization program for Afghanistan (a winning-the-hearts-and-minds strategy coupled with Afghan army training intended to eventually relieve our military duties there) is turning out to be something of a fizzle.

The Second World War should have taught us that nation building only works after braking your enemies will and ability to wage war. It took two atomic bombs to break the will of Japan’s fanatical Imperial Army and its desire to die for the honor of its emperor-god.

Today’s America would never go as far to stop an enemy as ferociously fanatical. Instead, we merrily march down the well-trod road to Vietnam.

burning Where Were They?

By Mr. Curmudgeon

President Obama was riding high after signing his Wall Street reform legislation into law. Then Neil Barofsky, special inspector general for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), came along to rain on the president’s parade. Barofsky’s report to Congress estimates that US taxpayers are on the hook for $700 billion this year (heaped atop an already staggering $3.7 trillion), resulting from the administration’s effort to stem the growing foreclosure rate. And the culprits?

“The increase was largely due to the government’s pledge to supply capital to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to buy their securities and guarantee mortgages to prop up housing,” reports the Reuters News Service. It’s funny how the President’s “sweeping financial reform” accidentally left out Freddie and Fannie…on purpose.

Barofsky lived up to his reputation for being Rep. Barney Frank and President Obama’s worst nightmare. “…I fear that the growing public suspicion that this program is an outright failure will continue unless and until Treasury…comes clean with what its goals and expectations are.” Ouch.

And while the president and his party howl about compensation for executives at the nation’s largest banks and brokerage houses, CEO’s Michael Williams (Fannie Mae) and Charles Haldeman Jr. (Freddie Mac) are both pulling in $900,000 a year. Where big government is concerned, nothing succeeds like catastrophic failure.

And speaking of failure, Obama’s “sweeping financial reform” just gave “too big to fail” the weight of US law. Now Barney Frank and friends can continue feeding the beats Freddie and Fannie tax dollars so as to continue their destructive behavior.

When conservatives criticize Obama’s new draconian law for overburdening our damaged economy, he will no doubt don his trusted fig leaf for cover. “I didn’t create TARP,” he’ll say, “Bush did.” And, sadly, he will be right.

Remember John Snow? As Bush’s Treasury Secretary, he once testified before Washington’s lawmakers, saying they needed to draft “legislation to create a new Federal agency to regulate and supervise the financial activities of our housing-related government sponsored enterprises [Freddie and Fannie].” He was ignored by his president and a Republican controlled Congress. A Wall Street Journal poll of leading economists declared Snow an ineffective Treasury secretary by a margin of two to one. Bush eventually fired him.

During the 2008 campaign, John McCain suspended his politicking to participate in legislative negotiations that began the “too big to fail” bailouts. “Now is the time to come together,” said McCain to the adoring press, “Democrats and Republicans – in a spirit of cooperation for the sake of the American people.”

Obama’s White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, once said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” The economic crisis that now engulfs our nation, and that Obama uses as an excuse to radically transform America, is the handiwork of Democrats and Republicans working together in a “spirit of bipartisan cooperation.”

Yesterday, senior economist at CoreLogic, Sam Khater, told the Associated Press, “The Economy and the housing market are going to remain stagnant for a long time. There’s nothing that’s going to propel sales anytime soon. It’s all about jobs and income growth.”

Obama’s transformative socialist agenda makes certain that jobs and income growth will remain a distant mirage. And we can thank that damned “spirit of bipartisan cooperation” for it.

America, is it beginning to dawn on you why the Tea Party is so important? This is a drum I will continue to beat until I stop hearing how the Republican Party is the answer to all our problems. They controlled Congress for twelve long years. There was even a Republican president in the White House for six of them. Where were they?

If John McCain returns to Washington after the midterms, do you really believe he will work to undo the horrific damage done to the American people by Obama? Or will he revert to “maverick” mode and obstruct every rational attempt to repeal our current socialist transformation? You know the answer.

There are currently 178 Republicans in the US House of Representatives. Twenty-eight formed a “Tea Party Caucus” giving lukewarm support to the principle of limited government. The question is, Where was the Republican leadership?

“He hates being politically labeled,” said POLITICO.com of Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner. “That’s why he avoids joining caucuses. For example, earlier this week he passed up the opportunity to join the House Tea Party Caucus.” The last thing a man of conscience wants to do during a time of great crisis is take sides in an epic moral struggle to save his country. President Obama and Nancy Pelosi, on the other hand, were all to quick to choose the distructive dark side.

Tea Party, Tea Party, Tea Party!

wright Chickens Coming Home to Roost

By Mr. Curmudgeon

No one should be surprised, but President Obama is about to fulfill a campaign promise. England’s Manchester Guardian “has learned that while the American government is still officially resistant to the idea of talks with Taliban leaders, behind the scenes a shift is under way and Washington is encouraging [Afghanistan’s President] Karzai to take a lead in such negotiations.”

And why not, says the Guardian, “Barrack Obama, apparently frustrated at the way the war is going, has reminded his national security advisers that while he was on the election campaign trail in 2008, he had advocated talking to America’s enemies.”

That being the case, why not negotiate with Al Qaeda’s Osama bin Laden? After all, according to the left’s narrative, America was justifiably attacked on 9/11 in retribution for our national sins. As the president’s pastor of 20-years, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, said shortly after the World Trade Center towers were brought down, “We bombed Hiroshima, we bombed Nagasaki and we nuked far more than the thousands in New York and the Pentagon, and we never batted an eye. We have supported state terrorism against the Palestinians and the black South Africans, and now we are indignant. Because the stuff we have done overseas has now been brought back into our own front yard. America’s chickens are coming home to roost.”

Seven years after the Rev. Wright’s sermon, parishioner Barrack Hussein Obama was elected President of the United States. It is painfully clear that Obama’s ascendancy to power is one of the Rev. Wright’s prophetic chickens come home to roost.

The two atomic flashes that ruined Japan’s imperial ambitions are hateful in the sight of Wright and his god because they ended a world war and secured the survival of our hateful nation. We then compounded that sin by recognizing a state formed from the ashes of Hitler’s Holocaust – Israel.

But President Obama is determined to set things Wright. He will drive the country into unsustainable debt, destroy a good portion of our nuclear deterrent and accommodate Al Qaeda’s Taliban ally – all as an apology to a dark and evil world for our continued existence.

Drained of their fabled self-confidence, coupled with a healthy dash of self-loathing, Americans turned to a man who offered a comical bumper sticker  slogan– hope and change. For nearly two years now, Obama’s every policy has contained within it the rich retribution of the Rev. Wright’s angry nihilistic god.
