And America begins its slide down the chute to moral decay. The death panels Democrats assured us were a scare tactic by right-wingers on the payroll of big pharma and the evil insurance industry have begun. The world's best selling cancer drug, Avastin (used in the treatment of breast cancer), was dropped by the FDA as an approved treatment do to the drug's lack of "effectiveness." The reason, of course, was cost. The cancer treatment averages $8,000 a month. The FDA's action removes the requirement for insurers to reimburse the medical community for the treatments.

According to the London Daily Mail, "During the [ObamaCare] debate, those opposed to the reforms cited Britain's National Institute for Clinical Excellence, which decides whether new treatments should be made available on the NHS on the basis of cost effectiveness, as an example of the sort of drug rationing that amounted to a 'death panel.'" Avastin is just the first step.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) said, "I shudder at the thought of a government panel assigning a value to a day of a person's life. It's sickening to think that care would be withheld from a patiet simply because their life is not deemed valuable enough."

Brittan's health care death panel is scheduling a revue of Avastin in response to the FDA's move. It looks like America is leading the way to dusty death.
